Action/
special effects

For the most part, LOTR does a good job with its special effects and action scenes, especially the fighting parts, because they're believable and immerse the audience into the world portrayed in the movie. However, there are certain instances, where the special effects took the audience out of the scene, which is something a "good" special effect would never do. For example, when Galadriel is tempted by the ring, her face and the lighting didn't look natural. The special effect used here made it distracting for the audience, therefore, it shouldn't have been used in the first place.
