COSTUME

The costumes in LOTR are pretty good because they reflect the characters' background and identity in the context of the story.

Gandalf is an ethical and selfless wizard who would do anything to help the hobbits and elves get to Mount Doom and destroy the Ring. In the movie, he wears lighter colors, which are often associated with good-naturedness and kindness, reflecting his personality.
Meanwhile, Sauron, who wants the Ring to take over Middle-earth, and the Nazgul wear dark colors, which signifies their evilness.

The hobbits are ordinary people with no powers living in Middle-earth. Their costumes, which include medieval period short curly hairstyles and dull colored clothing, are simple, which reflects how they’re just normal people.
